About Candace

Candace is the Editor-in-Chief at Army Wives’ Lives.  She began blogging her experience in 2004 at An Army Wife’s Life, published under the pseudonym, “Molly Pitcher”.

Candace’s journey as a military spouse began on September 11.  Watching the Twin Towers fall from the teacher’s lounge at the suburban school where she taught, Candace waited anxiously for word from her husband.  He had begun his second day as an associate at a Wall Street law firm.  When word finally came that he was safe, Candace’s students cheered.  Later that evening, her husband put his Eagle Scout skills to use working triage.  Like a number of Americans, he emerged from that day more determined than ever to serve his nation.

New Yorkers and double Ivy-League graduates, Candace and her husband had no idea what the future held when he announced that he had enlisted in the military with the intention of becoming a combat-arms officer.  For them and many of their fellow alumni, first-hand accounts of military life came from grandparents who had served in World War II.

Five years, two PCS moves, two babies, and an ETS from Active Duty into the National Guard later, they have discovered that the ties that bind military families together are much stronger than any regional differences.

It is fitting that what began as one woman’s journey has transformed into a communal story of the lives of Military Wives.
