I am just coming out of active duty service and have been through the family care plan process myself…. If she is a single mother she would have had to provide her chain of command a family care plan (a document that states who will care for children in the event of deployment) if she could not provide one she would be processed out of the military… DOD wide policy. Weird. I would like to see a follow up article about this SPC. I am sure the Army is not too happy with her.

I agree there seems to be more to this story than it seems….the Army is hard on families, all the deployments, moving and so on.
Not sure how I would feel if I was a single mom, that had a working family care plan in order and I would have to go. I would almost think that I am being punished for doing things right.
Don’t get me wrong..I empathize with the single mother if she doesn’t have any support. It’s tough.

I personally think that she is full of it. Because if it was such an issue. Why did her mother come and pick up the child after she said she couldn’t watch him. I know every one has their on circumstances in which others are not fully aware. I personally think she really didn’t wanna go. Plain and simple. At the same time who could blame her. Yet she signed up for this job and she knows just what it in tells. If my NCO’s told me some thing like your child will have to go into foster care while your deployed. I think I would be talking to legal and gettin me a good lawyer. I still think there is more to this story than what was reported.
